North Lakeland Presbyterian Church

Crop Walk

CROP Walk 2010 will be held on Sunday, February 28 at 2:00 pm.

Who? NLPC walkers and hundreds of others from Lakeland area churches
What is it?
A mission activity which raises money to fight hunger locally, nationally, and internationally
Where?
Lake Hollingsworth - a 3 mile walk around the beautiful lake beginning at First Presbyterian Church
Why?
We walk because millions of people have to walk for survival: searching for food, carrying water, searching for shelter after natural disaster or war.
We walk because Jesus told us to care for "the least of these" who are hungry and thirsty
How? By walking: pick up a sponsor packet from the table outside the sanctuary when you register on Feb. 7, 14, or 21. Ask friends and neighbors for donations to sponsor you.
If you can’t walk on Feb. 28, you are welcome to participate on your own time or place or a NEW virtual walk option (call Ryan Welshans for an explanation at 863-712-3556).

By sponsoring a walker:
On Feb. 28 look for people wearing tennis shoes or church T-shirts and carrying CROP envelopes.
Before Feb. 28 you may make a donation at the CROP registration table and it will be given to one of the walkers. Checks should be made to “CWS/CROP” rather than to the church.

Note to kids: Leave your bikes, scooters, rollerblades, and “wheelie” shoes at home! Strollers and wagons are fine for little ones who may need a break during the walk.

Walkers: Bring your picnic lunch to 1st Presbyterian at 1:00 p.m. NLPC group photo at 1:30.

Some of the money raised goes to local ministries like Talbot House, Lighthouse Ministries, and Catholic Charities. The rest of the money will be sent to Church World Service, which provides both hunger relief and funds for projects which attack the causes of hunger.
